Interview with Justin Davis

Hello!

5 Questions to Know You Better…

Perhaps most important – tea or coffee, or maybe hot chocolate?

Any of the above please! Really, I don’t mind.

Ok, if pushed, I prefer coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon and hot chocolate after a walk in cold weather… or playing in the snow with the children!

What inspired you to share this story?

My son inspired me to write – he struggled reading books with complex character names and couldn’t blend the words as he had been taught, leading to frustration and him not wanting to read.

However, for this book I was inspired by my daughter to write this story as she was always ‘losing’ her bunny – although he was always in an obvious place!

Do you have a particular place where you write –  can you show us a picture?

Nope.  I write anywhere, anytime and in any lighting conditions – I’m currently sat in the dark in the study so a picture wouldn’t help.

How have people responded to your writing?

Really positively!

I read to some classes in a school near me and they thoroughly enjoyed the story.

I have received some lovely reviews and also great feedback from a competition, The Wishing Shelf Awards where it was rated 5 stars (37/40)

‘A captivating, sweetly illustrated story. A FINALIST and highly recommended.’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards

What are you working on currently, and when can we expect to read it?

I am currently working on the Spy Danger, the second in the series following my debut children’s chapter novel, Escape From Nettle Farm (which won a Red Ribbon Award in The Wishing Shelf Awards).  It is currently being illustrated and will be available in July/August.

I have also written my second rhyming picture book, A Pirate’s Song, that is awaiting illustration.  This fully illustrated children’s book (about pirates!) will be available in November.
