Guest Post from Melissa at Literary Book Gifts

I recently came across this wonderful site full of interesting and unusual gifts for book lovers – naturally I was taken with the idea, and thought many of you would be as well. (I’m getting myself a typewriter one…) I’ve asked Melissa to tell us a little more about her work, and she has kindly offered us all a discount to use in the run up to Christmas – thank you!

Literary Book Gifts is a store focused on showcasing books on t-shirts and tote bags. Each item in the store makes for an amazing gift for any writer and reader. Whether your favourite novel is Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island or F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful and Damned there is something in the collection for every book lover!

I try to keep the collection well rounded. I think that lesser known titles have a place alongside works from more popular authors. For example the The Hound of the Baskervilles is a lesser known work by the famous Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but I believe it deserves a spot in the collection alongside his better known work, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

I was inspired to start designing bookish items because I love the idea of being able to see, visually, someone else’s tastes. I believe that self expression is an important part of our day-to-day life. When we talk about our opinions, we share our tastes, likes, and dislikes with others. I think that is an important aspect of the human experience. I love reading, but I also love talking about the ideas inside of the books with others. I hope some of these designs, or even just the store itself helps spark some conversation between readers, writers, and anyone who enjoys a good story.
